For My Etsy Shop

I finished sewing this little number this morning.
It's a Bible cover made from yellow corduroy and vintage fabric. There is a fabric liner on the inside for longer life, and the button really adds some cuteness to this cover.

It's "twin" will hopefully be completed later this afternoon and they both should be up in the etsy shop by tonight!

That's all for now folks!

(pist! stay tunned for some handmade headbands)

My Saturday

So I started off my Saturday morning by rolling out of bead at 8:30 and enjoying a bowl of frosted mini wheats. Then I took some pictures for my etsy shop.

Then I proceeded on to baking some double chocolate chip cookies!

Mmmm! Delicious. Next I made some lunch. Today's menu included tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich.

No no, Charlie...none for you!

Giveaway Contest

Hey Ya'll!
Happy to announce that Mike and I made it home safe and sound AND on time (hooray!) and he's doing much much better now. He just started eating again (after about a week of not eating) which will help with all the weight he's lost the past week.
Anyway, I'll be getting my etsy shop all set up tomorrow (hopefully) and baking up some goodies in the kitchen.
But, until those updates and posts...check out this giveaway I found on one of my favorite blogs.

Where's Waldo? And Where's Mike?

The past few days have been somewhat of a downer. You know those days when everything seems to go wrong? I just have about 4 of them in a row and currently living in one of them.
Mike has been super sick and yet still performed in Northland's artist series. That's a story in itself. He was so sick that he was pale the whole time he was up there singing, and just about passed out twice. I was sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to jump up and run to his side. He scared me half to death.
I ended up dragging him to the kitchen right after he had a breather outside in the fresh air, so I could get him some water, hot tea, oranges, and a granola bar. He felt a little better, but I still marched him back to his dorm and watched him walk inside (just to be sure he was ok).
Today was no different. My poor boyfriend and I sat in the back during graduation so he could get up for water if he needed to. He did, and took so long that I was afraid that he was unconscious on the floor in the hall. I went out to look for him, but he was fine. Just walking slowly.
He didn't eat very much at lunch, and won't eat dinner.

Sigh, I just hope that he will be better tomorrow for our flight back home. It's going to be a little rough on him.

So as I spend the day on my own, and packing everything has been checked off the list, I browse the internet searching for something to do. After an hour of facebooking and whatnot, I found an old childhood friend...Waldo. As in "Where's Waldo?" I was very excited when I found out that I could play a game online. (click here) and even more when I found out that I could turn myself into a Waldo (click here)!
I haven't finished finding everything in the game left, but I've found most things. Maybe you'll have better luck.

So, In honor of rediscovering my long lost childhood friend Waldo, and because I have oodles and oodles of time tonight, I've decided to relive some childhood memories I had with toys.

Drum Roll Please...

Dolls, oooooh how I loved dolls. I used to brush their hair and play all sorts of games with them. I would tell them my secrets and tuck them in bed with me.

Toy cars, I used to "drive" these things around for hours and hours with my brother. We must have had a hundred of them. They were all my brother's, except for one that was hot pink. That one was mine.

Easybake ovens, My daddy bought me one of these for Christmas. I must admit, I never did bake anything right. I would either burn it, spill it all inside the oven, or give up and eat it all raw and goooey.

Towels, yes yes believe it or not I played with towels. I would lay them on the floor and roll up the edges to make a "canoe" on which I would explore rivers and meet friendly Indians. Of course whenever boys where around we tied them around our necks and became super heroes conquering the evil villains with our multitudes of powers!

That's all for now folks! I'm going to continue searching through that Waldo game, maybe even pop in a Pixar movie... anyway...
Enjoy your weekend!

New Layout Celebration

Hooray Finals are over!
What a huge weight off of my back. Of course I still have white glove and a other meetings to go to but tonight, since I'm not cramming for a test, I've decided to makeover the blog.

So while trying to decide the knew color scheme I realized that I've taken a new interest in vintage yellow and green.

This shirt is gorgeous, both in color and style.

I looooove this pillow, but also feel in love with the green behind it.

This is one of the banners I made for my etsy shop; I still haven't made up my mind on which banner I want, any comments are helpful.

I think that these vintage fabric patterns are adorable.

So, here's the new layout and color scheme. I now have a three column blog to fill over the next couple of weeks. If you would like your blog advertised on this blog for free, just leave a comment with your e-mail address and blog address. You just might make it!

Thank you to everyone keeping up with me even though the posts have been slim over finals week; you are all very much appreciated. Can't wait to see how my posts pick up over the summer.

What would you like to see on this blog? Leave a comment or suggestion bellow. Miss Yellow Shoes can't get any better or grow unless feedback is given.

Cupcakes in a jar

Hey everyone,
I'm still pretty swamped with finals and packing up this week but I wanted to make a post so badly.
I found this project on another blog and thought that I'd share it with you.

Here are the lovely cupcakes in their first stage of creation...I would eat them just like this to tell you the truth.

Nom nom, I want some!

If you would like to see how to makes these cute and scrumptious little treats click here

"I just made these for my co-workers and my boyfriend's family after you posted the photos from the shower. Thanks so much for the clever idea! Everyone loved them and I will be making them again... maybe with fun-fetti!"

"Love things in jars!"

"I made a batch today (sans jar) and they turned out great! So moist with great flavor! Thank you for sharing! :)"

"Your such a clever gal. I am going to try this, it turned out so beautifully. xxx."

Sigh, just one more day of finals, then white glove, spring concert, and I'm going home!
Oooooh boy.

Poem By My Little Brother

There was a quaint little town,

Where everything was brown!

Everything you would see,

No matter what it be,

Had to be all brown,

In that quaint little town.

Everything was brown.

Every single cow,

Every single house

Even the tiny mouse.

As far as every brown eye could see

Everything was brown, even the red tree.

Little Jim, he was quite the fellow,

Cause his favorite color was bright yellow!

One day he walked through his town,

Remember it is the town where all is brown.

He said to himself “Why is it so dull?”

“I’d rather live underground…just like a mole”

How does one young man

Changes the town which is bland?

“Add more colors!” was his simply reply.

He started off by squishing beautiful butterflies.

“When you mix the butterflies together real tight,

After shaking them up, LOOK, they turn white!”

He ran and smushed his new color friends,

On a chicken whose white started a new trend.

Next, he grabbed a few frogs who were having some fun.

He tied them all together by their big, long tongues.

He tied those tongues to a long stick,

And spun and spun all the frogs till they got sick.

“Purple” was his cry when he collected the matter

Into the dress store he went with his new color to splatter.

On dresses and jeans, t-shirts or shoes,

To little Jim it wasn’t hard to choose.

Because everything that was in the town,

Had to be changed from that ugly brown.

No more bugs or amphibians were left to try.

“I wonder what happens when little girls cry”

He found a girl, sitting with her candy

He went up to her and said “You know that goes straight to your fanny”

“Success” he cried when the girl began to weep.

He grabbed a hanky to wipe all the tears which did leak.

“It’s a clear” he said as he unfolded the hanky.

Not to be defeated, he went up to a window feeling rather swanky.

He rubbed it on the glass and all of a sudden it became clear!

What a wonderful surprise! All because of some little girls tear.

After many more experiences with dogs, snails, corn, and hair;

He had new colors such as black, blue, green, and others, but he didn’t care.

He still hasn’t been able to make the bright yellow.

This sadden the poor little fellow.

“Yellow is the best color of them all!

Why can’t I get my favorite color at all?”

He tried everything, even tried mixing all of his creations.

But all that it would bring was major dissatisfaction.

Then he saw a bee buzzing all around.

“This has to be the answer to find my color in this town”

Remember now that everything was brown.

Yes, even a bumble bee had to be in that town.

He chased the bee and caught it.

Popped the stinger off and squeezed just a little bit,

And flowing out was his favorite color yellow!

Boy, did this make a jolly fellow.

He had nothing to hold the color that came out.

So he took the bee and rubbed it in the color will a mighty clout.

After dyeing everything left to dye yellow,

A swarm of bees saw the little fellow.

They knew the color which he had.

For it was from them. Now they were mad.

They swarmed around him and stung him many a time.

He ran away and left behind his yellow slime.

Tis a sad ending I do agree,

But there is a moral to this story.

If you tired and bored of the way things are.

Just wise up and get a car.

For you can always drive and find a new place,

Instead of changing everything to your tast
e.

Baaah! Finals

So, just wanted to write a little something something to let you all know that the blog entries are going to be kinda slim for the next 2 weeks. I've got one last week of classes with a million trillion pages, projects, and papers due. The week after that I have to tackle all those lovely finals.
To make things better, I kinda hurt my back yesterday at Springfest here at Northland so I'm a hunchback at the moment. (Mike offered to build me a bell tower...how sweet)
Mike has been taking really really good care of me though, getting me ice, water, pain killers, anything I need. He's been pretty much amazing.
Anyway, I must leave you all. I will make an effort to post something every now and then; it just won't be as interesting and long as normal.

Bye Bye!

Oh! But I wanted to post a picture or two before closing... hope they make you laugh and smile!

This picture (Sprinkles) pretty much captures who I am as a living person on this planet.

This really made me "laugh out loud" lol. Ha ha

Have a great Monday tomorrow!
